All the young ball players are lined up at Brown's for rootbeer, win or lose, just like they've been doing for 50 years; and there goes another group of kids on bikes probably heading over to the Lyon Theater to enjoy a matinee.

While you're in town be sure to take a stroll over to see the Witches Hat, or maybe ride through the Huron Valley Rail Trail on a bike from South Lyon Cycle. Yes, we're pretty proud of South Lyon's small hometown feel. People know each other here. Generation after generation, kids grow up and then come back to raise their own families. Some say it's a little like Mayberry, other folks will say it's more trendy than that now with Grande Trunke, Lake Street Tavern and some of the other fine businesses that have opened in the past few years. We know we've got the best of both worlds.

South Lyon is a city in southwestern Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan, in Metro Detroit. The population was 11,327 at the 2010 census. The city is part of the South Lyon-Howell-Brighton Urban Area, which had a population of 106,139 according to the 2000 census. South Lyon is located in Oakland County's Lyon Township, near the Livingston County and Washtenaw County lines. The city is 19 miles (31km) north of Ann Arbor, 45 miles (72km) west of Detroit and 58 miles (93km) east of Lansing. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.73 square miles (9.66km2), all land.
