Join the merchants of downtown Rochester when they offer their customers Lagniappe (Creole for “a little something extra”) in appreciation for their support throughout the year! This event, the Big, Bright Light Show kickoff, when nearly every downtown Rochester merchant adorns their storefront with lights and turns them all on at once. It’s a shimmering spectacle sure to warm your heart, so stare in awe as you listen to live music from Kincer Catallo & The Violettes, visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus (reindeer, too!) or take a horse-drawn carriage around town.
It doesn’t stop after Lagniappe. The buildings of downtown Rochester try to outshine one another, blanketing their facades with lights, resulting in an eye-popping childish wonderland that speaks more of Christmas spirit than gifts do. It definitely makes walking around and holiday shopping during Old Man Winter a bit brighter.
