'Our Domestic Resurrection Circus!' - DETROIT

  • Hinton Real Estate Group 2221 Carpenter Avenue Hamtramck, MI, 48212 United States (map)

As part of the Detroit Puppet Company #OutdoorSummerSeries2022 lineup, we are pleased to welcome internationally acclaimed, 58-year-old, Vermont-based Bread and Puppet Theater, back to Detroit!

They will perform a massive, larger-than-life, community participation theatrical piece, entitled Our Domestic Resurrection Circus.

The piece, which will incorporate dozens of actors, puppets, props, and excitingly, community participants, is a bright, raucous melee of short acts governed by a brass band, and as a political puppet spectacle, which borrows from traditional Circus tropes to address the urgent issues of the day. More information about Bread and Puppet can be found at https://breadandpuppet.org/.

This is a free event (though there may be a passing hat), family-friendly, and open to all. Please bring your own chairs or blanket.

Metro Detroiters are invited to be part of the Circus! Those interested must attend an afternoon rehearsal on September 21 and are required to email hello@detroitpuppetcompany.com for more information and to reserve their space and participation in the performance. Space is limited and is already filling up!

If you would like to get involved in another capacity, we are currently looking for food donations to help feed the masses on 9/21 and 9/22. If interested please reach out, so that we can gauge food quantities. AND, if food isn't your thing, but you would still like to help, we are in need of a few volunteer ushers to help coordinate audience members during the event. Reach out to us if interested in any of these capacities.
