We’re shining a light on Brandi Timmermann and Lorraine Sullivan, life-long residents of Ypsilanti and partner Loan Originators at Hinton Home Loans Inc. in Ypsilanti. Hear from Brandi and Lorraine as they share top tips to anyone seeking next step towards homeownership, local knowledge, and what they love most about living in Ypsi.

What should we know about you and your role in Hinton Home Loans?
Loan Originators at Hinton Home Loans, Inc assist borrowers in obtaining mortgages or loans through vendors and evaluate their qualifications.
Lorraine: I've been in the business of helping people since I was 19. The fact that I knew I was helping people kept me in my work. When I retired from being a federal employee, I still wanted to find other ways to help. Loan originating was a way I could help people get into homes which I feel everyone should try and do and will be a benefit to them.
Brandi: I've been a part of the Hinton family for a while, and what I like about our home loans program is Lorraine and I are building this up as a partnership. We'll be hand-in hand throughout. We provide a unique aspect, two of us in sharing our main goal of helping our clients make decisions and get where they need to be. We also get to learn from each other, bounce our skill set off each other, and that's something great about our office.
What is something only a local would know but others should know about?
Lorraine: It's Al's Fresh Fish! They have the fried zucchini sticks, they have the little crab cakes- they're so good. I love their orange roughy. It's just a little building by a little plaza near Ford & Holmes.
Brandi: The best sledding is right over here at ford hills (or Riverside Park). We've been sledding down there since I was a kid. There's a nice skatepark (CommUNITY Skatepark), my sons ride over there, and the kids are always out there during the summer. It's nice to see these activities for the kids like this.

What are some of your top reasons Ypsilanti is a good place to call home?
Lorraine: I've been here my whole life. I'm seeing the city build back up, opening more businesses, community activities, and a lot for the children now. They're planning to reopen one of the middle schools, a lot of activities at the Ypsilanti Township Community Center. There are new developments and Ypsilanti is building itself up. I think it's a great place to live right now.
Brandi: One thing I like about Ypsi is the loyalty, and like Lorraine said, we've been here our whole lives. I love that family aspect that Ypsilanti carries. A lot of changes are happening, with more things to do for everyone. It's an inclusive and pretty diverse area. Our whole families are here and I love my home, no matter how far I go, I'll always love Ypsi.
Good things are happening in Ypsi all the time. What's good in Ypsi?
Brandi: I'm a Willow Run graduate, and they've just built the new Ypsilanti Community Middle School, and I was so happy to see the middle school moving back and being utilized with all of the new benefits that building offers!
Lorraine: The jams of John E. Lawrence Summer Jazz Series at Ford Lake Park- Jazz on the water every Friday night in the summer. I like YpsiTasty! I've never participated in that before this year, it was wonderful. The Juneteenth Celebration, and also Parkridge Community Center has events and for the kids, a lot of vendors come out which is nice. There are also so many classes like "Get Fit While You Sit" at the Ypsilanti Township Community Center.
